Nature in South Bali

While we can't really classify the Environmental Bamboo Foundation (EBF) as a "tourist destination", we figure that if you are genuinely interested in ecology and preservation, you need to know about this organization.

The Government of Indonesia has declared 24 marine protected areas throughout the country. There are plans to expand this to 85 reserves covering 30 million hectares by the end of this century

Opened in May of 2003, the Mangrove Information Center serves as a center for the study and preservation of the region's coastal mangrove forests. The Center was funded with money granted by the Government of Japan

The island of Nusa Penida is a limestone plateau with white sand beaches on its north coast, and views over the water to the volcanoes on Bali. The beaches are not good for swimming as most of the shallows are filled

Located 40 kilometers from the capital city; Denpasar, Nusa Dua is a peninsula in the south of Bali. White sandy beaches and crystal clear water are part of the reason Nusa Dua

Padang Padang is located on the western side of the Bukit, after Impossibles and before Uluwatu.

Nusa Lembongan now is popular getaway destination near Bali. Its main bay is a long stretch of white sand fringed by hotels in all price ranges. While it is developed for tourism, the island is free of cars

The beach is located on Bukit Peninsula, Bingin is a reef break with only one take off point. Like other beaches in the area, Bingin has a good wave quality with the reef bottom of coral and sharp rock will be a dangerous place for beginner surfer.

Dreamland beach is similar in nature to the other beaches in Bukit Peninsula, but it is popular not only with the surfers, also with the beach lovers.

Kuta beach was the first popular tourist beach on the west side of the island. The beach stretches from the airport runways on the south end to Legian on the north. It's a great beach to walk and Kuta’s sunsets are a favorite among the visitors.
