Pemuteran is also the home of a very successful coral regeneration project and a diving industry has grown up around the existence of both the project and Pulau Menjangan.

There are a number of places to stay, from very affordable to quite high end. Taman Sari is one of th best,with a variety of accommodations at a variety of price points. It's quiet, well-maintained and right on the beach. The coral regeneration project lies just offshore -- you can snorkel right off the beach.

Pemuteran can be reached by car from South Bali in 3 to 4 hours. If you are driving up from South Bali, don't go West out to Gili Manuk -- the drive is not very pleasant. Rather, head north through Bedugal and then turn West and follow the coast. You can also go all the way to Singaraja if you prefer, though it adds a bit of travel time to the trip.
