Gado Gado is located on the beach at the end of Jalan Dhyanapura in Seminyak.
Gado Gado is far and away our favorite upscale beachfront restaurant. It's just down the beach from the more famous Ku De Ta, but presents a distinctively different dining experience.
The Asian influenced Continental menu at Gado Gado is less daring than that of Ku De Ta, but the marvelous consistency of the high quality dishes more than compensates. The atmosphere is much more subdued and suited to conversation and company -- you'll never have to shout over a DJ tuning up the sound system for the evenings revelry at Gado Gado (a personal pet peeve concerning Ku De Ta).
The service is appropriately attentive without being douting. The wine list solid. The location is also well suited to sunset drinks and is to be preferred if you wish to discuss business or talk privately.
Prices here are at the top end of the scale, but we go back again and again as they demonstrate that they are worth it. If you were looking to have only one expensive night out while in Bali, you would do well to spend it at Gado Gado. Very civilized.
Reservations are a must. (Hint: Ask to be seated indoors near the patio in rainy season).
