Ayung River is located in and around Ubud. Following the river will give you scenes of some of Bali's most spectacular unspoiled rainforest, with towering gorges and magnificent rice paddy terraces along the way. Ayung River is also the longest and largest river in Bali.
White water rafting was first introduced in Bali along this river. While the rafting is very tame (and involves a bit of paddling in the slow spots) the lack of adventure is more than compensated for by beautiful panorama and the appearance of wild animals along the rafting route including large bats, black monkeys, magpies and more.
Several of the island's most popular villas, hotels, and restaurants overlook the Ayung River valley along the Ayung Terrace in Ubud. Ayung river it self located only 2 km from the centre of Ubud to the west, use your rented car or motorcycle through the Penestanan village and it will end up to the main road (Jalan Raya Payangan). From here you can find the small road turning to the river of Ayung.
